Interesting facts about the Taj Mahal

In the city of Agra (India), the former center of the Great Mughals, there is one of the most perfect works of world art - the incomparable white marble mausoleum of the Mumtaz Mahal, known throughout the world as the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal was built in the 17th century by order of Emperor Aurangzeb. Masters from many countries took part in the construction of the mausoleum. Masons from Delhi and Kandahor, architects Khan Rumi from Constantinople and Sharif from Samarkand supervised the erection of the central dome, they were helped by a master from Lahore, Delhi and Bukhara masters were in charge of decorative works, a gardener came from Bengal, calligraphers and artists from Damascus, Baghdad and Shiraz.
